State Farm® Insurance Agent Reid Strelow

"I want to start by being clear that this is not a review of Reid personally, this is a review of State Farm when you actually need them. I have a claim that recently closed out today for an accident I was involved in on 6th Ave E and 2nd street taking a left onto 2nd. If you know Duluth you know that visibility down the hill between 1st and 2nd Street is limited to say the least, it's even worse if you are going up towards the intersection from 1st Street. Long story short the way was clear and I was 3/4 through executing my turn when a driver from down below came barreling up the hill and blindly into the intersection slamming into me. The other driver had American family and when I talked to that claim adjuster they at least heard me out on my side of the story and point of view. When I spoke to the State Farm adjuster on the other hand he was the most dismissive and patronizing person I've ever spoken to while apparently being the one who is supposed to represent my interests as my insurance company. The adjuster seemed to be in a hurry to get me on for my recorded statement with a mocking tone towards me. I had a lot of questions but he just kept pushing me to do the recorded statement and during that statement he said some statements of fact that indicated to me that the other driver (who is not represented by State Farm) was providing a story with material falsities. When I asked for clarification and deatil he said "we'll get to that" but as the call came to a close he cut me off and said he would be closing out the claim, he never did get into any details of the discrepancies with the other party's story and told me talk to arbitration if you don't like it.

If you have ever driven on this intersection, you know that visibility drops off very quickly and drastically, and if you have ever driven up towards that intersection you would know that you cannot clearly evaluate what is on the road in front of you until you are entering the intersection. Call me crazy but If you are both blind to the roadway and invisible to other drivers until you have entered the intersection you have a duty to drive at a speed that is safe in light of the unknown road conditions ahead of u. If it had been in any way possible to yield to the driver I would have but as it was I had already determined the roadway was clear and was well into my manuevre by the time the other driver barreled over the horizon.

I definitely am of the opinion that the on the ground conditions are at least worth considering in terms of who is at fault for the accident but the State Farm claims agent was only patronizing and condescending while having no realistic knowledge of the actual conditions of the roadway nor interest in including that in their "investigation". His tone came off very "frat boy" like and wholly disinterested in my side of things.

TL;DR if you are looking for a good deal on insurance State Farm is surprisingly cheap. But their motto needs to be updated because I do not feel like I had a good neighbor who was there. When push comes to shove it's more like dealing with an HOA who lacks sense and any understanding. If you save money with State Farm make sure you put that saved money in an account for future lawyer fees because if you're expecting your insurance company to be in your corner to advocate for u, they wont"
